Overview
In today's hyperconnected world, technology has brought us closer than ever, yet many of us feel more isolated. While we are surrounded by endless streams of information, true moments of human connection are rare.
The Rolling Mail Service is a mobile mailbox for the regeneration of community and connectedness. It invites participants to engage in an analog exchange of heartfelt messages, fostering unexpected moments of warmth. Each letter carried thoughts and feelings by anonymous strangers remind us of our shared humanity.
They participate, even become part of an invisible support and networking system, just by reading and answering letters from these pen friends. That simple act converts isolation to cohesion through the Rolling Mail Service, leaving us with something tangible to know we will never be alone.
How it works
Rolling Mail Service has an IR sensor to keep its way and a beam breaker for identifying the insertion/removal of letters. A thermal printer creates new prompts for participants to answer as the mailbox continues on its path to its next destination.
